My name is Caitlin Mello. I am a BSW student at UVM, but I am originally from Boston. Besides interning at the NASW, I also work as a research assistant at the Vermont Center for Children Youth and Families and I am a co chair of a DREAM program that works with youth in affordable housing. I chose social work because I have a passion for social justice and advocacy work and I see it as a good jumping off point for any area of interest I may have. The NASW VT internship was my choice because policy and macro work are what I really want to do with the rest of my life. I am looking forward to work in the Vermont State House and learning about a social worker’s role in legislation.

Haley Newman – NASW-VT Social Work Intern

My name is Haley Newman and I will be an MSW intern at NASW-VT for the upcoming year. I did my undergraduate education at University of Vermont and obtained my Bachelor of Science degree, with a major in Social Work. I am currently enrolled in Fordham University’s online, advanced staHaley.jpgnding MSW program! I chose to do my internship at NASW-VT so that I could learn more about the macro practice side of Social Work. I’ve learned a lot about, and experienced, micro practice, but don’t feel like macro has been given the same attention. I am excited to learn more about the various aspects of macro practice and to be a part of larger scale change within our communities. I also look forward to connecting with other passionate Social Workers on a more collaborative level.

Jessica Bernstein – NASW-VT Social Work Intern

Hi! My name is Jess, and I am a senior at the University of Vermont, majoring in Social Work and minoring in Business Administration. I am so excited to be interning with NASW this school year IMG_2553.jpgand to get involved with the Vermont community to promote sustainable, socially just change. During my time with NASW, I hope to broaden my skill set and strengthen my ability to advocate on behalf of others and to empower others to do the same.
