About

NASW-VT Mission Statement

Our mission is to support, enhance, and facilitate communication across the spheres of community, agency, and clinical social work.

We honor the unique culture of Vermont and value the diversity of culture in our state and in our profession. We support members through legislative advocacy and committee work within our organization. Our Chapter promotes and respects social justice, self-determination, human rights, diversity, and interdependence. Our primary goal is to serve and support our members in the pursuit of their profession.

NASW-VT is a Chapter of NASW

Vermont is one of 55 chapters of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) (including Hawaii and an international chapter), the professional organization for all graduate (MSW) and undergraduate (BSW) social workers.

Membership of the Vermont chapter is just under 500 with representation across the spectrum of the field including, for example, medical, school, home health care, and clinical social work.

With our main office in Montpelier, just a block from the State House, we are well positioned to advocate for the needs and interests of our members. To do this, we have an elected Board of Directors, an Executive Director, and several Committees and Task Forces for:

  • Legislative, Education & Professional Development
  • Clinical Social Work
  • Political Action for Candidate Election (PACE)
  • Committee on Inquiry

Committee descriptions and mission statements are available on request.
